In lieu of flowers, please consider donating to weCare Africa to honor Susanna Inokon’s legacy of charity and service.

Susanna Inokon, was born on April 20, 1950 in Ikot Etenge Ndon in Edemaya, Ikot Abasi Local Government Area of Akwa Ibom State to late Pa Wilson Umani Inamette and Madam Alice Wilson Umani Inamette. She was the second of their three children.

Her father nicknamed her “Adiaha Ekong” and “Win the War” because he saw what God had deposited in her even as a little girl. So it came as no surprise that before his passing, he called a family meeting and handed over his gun (having fought in World War II), in spite of the fact that she was a woman and he had sons. Susanna was her father’s pride, joy and strength and she lived up to that.

Read more on her Biography

Susanna Inokon was a resilient, resourceful and hard-working mother of six who dedicated her life to her children’s well-being, instilling in them the values of love, compassion, unity and the fear of God. Her home was a haven of warmth and laughter, where family always came first. Born into a modest family, she knew hardship from a young age, but it only fueled her determination to create a better life for her own children. With 15 grandchildren, her heart overflowed with joy as she built and watched her family grow. But her love extended beyond her own kin as she was also devoted to the communities she belonged.

Tributes

“Obongawan Susanna never forgot her lineage. This was evident by the number of projects, too numerous to mention she initiated through her children in the village community. I wish those community pupils were here to bid her farewell. I wished the less privilege and the elderly were here to say thank you. Susanna was a woman with a good heart. She was indeed the light to many.” ~ Dr Mbouty ~
